Top New Health Trends For 2019

apple with measuring tapeAs the old year passes and the new year arrives, you can guarantee that the media and the internet will be awash with all the new trends expected for 2019. Whether these trends are in fashion, beauty, food or something completely different, there will always be certain things expected to be big that year. Here are some of the expected top new health trends for 2019:

More people leaning towards a vegan diet

2018 saw an increase in people talking about how good veganism was for the world without necessarily being vegans themselves. Plenty of people saw the benefits of a plant based diet and from reducing their meat and dairy intake so we should see much more of this in 2018 too.

Data has shown that a large amount of Brits have drastically reduced their animal product and byproduct intake in 2018 and you can be sure that many more will follow that trend in 2019.

With both keto diets and vegan diets being popular in recent years, is it any wonder a health trend that combines the two makes it onto this list? The ketogenic diet became especially popular in 2018 with plenty of people shunning carbs, grains and sugar. However, a lot of a ketogenic diet revolves around animal fat and meat and this isn’t very sustainable. Some people are aiming to keep to a ketogenic diet without ingesting any animal products or by products, keto vegans if you will.  There’s books out there to help you start your journey and blogs too.

No more waste

You may wonder how zero waste contributes to health trends but it seems that many people will be using 2019 to find out ways to get more out of their food ingredients without wasting any. So much food gets wasted and all it takes is a little bit of creativity to make that food a little more appetising. With zero waste blogs and cookbooks popping up all over the place, you can be sure to see much more of a push for zero waste in 2019.

Hemp will be huge

You must have seen all the talk about hemp oil in recent months. It is big business across the entire world and I’m pretty sure it will get even bigger in 2019. With CBD having been legalised in many countries, it is almost certain that 2019 will see an increase in usage as people try to improve their sleep or digestion, dull their pain or ease their stress. People have been using it for anti anxiety properties, anti inflammatory properties and many more. It is definitely something to watch for the future.

It is being said that brain health will be a big focus in 2019. It is the most important organ in our body but how many of us can say we actually look after it properly? Unhealthy diets, binging on alcohol or drugs, a poor sleeping routine, pollution, consistent use of technology….All of these affect our brain health and many of us do little to help our brains.

With brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s on the rise, it is definitely time we all start to look after our brains a bit more by putting a few steps into place – eating better, sleeping better, reducing our technology use.

These are my top tips for health trends for 2019 – have you heard of any more?
