How To Lose Weight Safely

Digital Bathroom Scale Displaying OMG MessageWhen it comes to weight loss, there are plenty of different ways you can do it – however, not all of those ways are safe for you or your body. If you are serious about losing some weight, then you need to make sure that you aren’t putting yourself at risk. Here is how you can lose weight safely without worrying about any unnecessary risks…

Be More Active

It sounds silly but exercise really helps. If you are eating healthily but not exercising or vice versa, you won’t have as good results like you do, putting the two together. Once you’ve lost the weight, you also want to keep it off so getting into a good fitness routine now will stand you in good stead for the future. Exercise helps you to burn off the excess calories that you can’t get rid of through simply healthy eating so get out and about today!

Don’t Skip Meals…Especially Breakfast

Make sure you are eating regularly and not skipping meals as this could potentially hamper your weight loss. Eating at regular times help to burn calories at a faster rate – and also, regular meals reduce your cravings for those fatty and sugary foods you are most likely to snack on.

Breakfast often brings us the essential nutrients that we need for the day ahead so make sure not to skip it. If you do, you are more likely to snack and graze during the day.

Eat & Drink Healthily

It sounds silly to even have to say this but eating and drinking healthily is key to safe weight loss. Making sure that you get your five a day is essential. Fruit and vegetables are low in both calories and fat and also are quite high in fibre, as well as containing plenty of vitamins and minerals. Why wouldn’t you be incorporating them into your diet? For me I like the balance of quick and easy recipes packed with vegetables and this Italian Style Rice Salad is perfect for lunch or tea and easy to make.

Also you will want to ensure you are drinking plenty of water. Have you heard that people often confuse thirst for hunger? Well, it’s true. Whenever you are hungry, try having a drink first. You may find that it quells your appetite.

Portion Control

Consider portioning your food but not to the excess where you are really hungry. A simple way to start consuming smaller portions is by using smaller plates or bowls – you won’t have as much space to fill with food so you’ll have to dish up a smaller portion. Eventually you will get used to the smaller portions and realise how much you may have been over eating.

Enjoy The Occasional Treat

Completely banning treats is quite a foolish thing to do because if you fall off the wagon, you fall of the wagon hard – and it can be hard to pick yourself up and dust yourself off to start again. Let yourself have the occasional treat, just to satisfy the craving. Banning them will only make you crave them more.

Meal Planning Is Key

A great way to aid your weight loss is planning ahead. By making a meal plan, you know exactly what you are eating and when and can know exactly how healthy it is for you. Ditch the takeaways (save for perhaps the odd treat) and stick to home cooked meals where you know exactly what ingredients have gone into the dish. You might find you prefer your home cooked version to ordering out too!

Losing weight needn’t be stressful but make sure you are being safe whilst doing it. Do you have any weight loss tips or successes?
