10 Of Some Of The Best Winter Travel Destinations

travel bags and airplane in skyI have a love/hate relationship with winter. I love the things that go on during the season such as Christmas and New Years but really hate the bitter cold. Sometimes I consider jetting off to get some sun and get away from the freezing temperatures for a family sunshine holiday . Here are ten of the best winter travel destinations I’m tempted to head to right now…

Cape Verde

Probably one of the most popular destinations out there for people heading off for some winter sun, this destination is just over an hour’s flying time from the Canary Islands and is absolutely beautiful. You can choose to chill on the beach or check out the culture, it is entirely up to you.

Is it any wonder people head to the US, specifically Florida, at this time of year? I know of a few already who’ve headed there this season and am aware of a few more going soon. Florida is known as the Sunshine state for a reason and is the perfect place if you want to catch some rays.

Gran Canaria

With plenty to see from the stunning beaches, the beautiful sand dunes and tropical parks, you really want to consider heading here during the winter when searching for sunnier climes.

St Lucia

Now if you’ve ever had someone telling you St Lucia is beautiful, they’re not lying. It is absolutely spectacular and truly a island that has to be seen to be believed.

The price tag may be a little high for some but if you want a fab experience, Cuba is definitely worth a visit. If you’re wanting to escape the bitter chill, the lovely beaches are perfect to relax on and there is so much culture to get immersed in that your holiday will simply pass you by.

Barbados

One of the most popular Caribbean islands to visit during the winter and it isn’t hard to see why. Full of tasty food and interesting heritage, Barbados is a destination everyone should experience in their lifetime.

Tenerife

I couldn’t not mention another island from the Canary Islands, could I? Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago and is absolutely breathtaking with the fantastic hiking trails and the volcanos. Full of fun, it is definitely an island worth visiting.

Thailand

This may not be an obvious choice of destination to escape the winter chill but if you want beautiful beaches and a unique experience, consider heading to Thailand this winter. There is plenty to see and do!

Mexico

It might be a long flight time from the UK but Mexico is a culturally rich destination that is definitely worth a visit. Beautiful temples, stunning beaches and seas, spectacular rainforests. There is plenty to check out whilst there.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, Bedugul Mountains, Bratan Lake, Bali, IndonesiaBali

My final choice and perhaps one of the more obvious is Bali. Yes, it’s a long flight but totally worth it. It is hot all year around – although rainy at times – and it is little wonder people from the UK flock there in their droves during the winter. Wanting peace and quiet in the warm balmy temperatures you can’t get in the UK? Bali is the place for you.

Do you ever head away on holiday during the winter? Where do you like to go?
